FAKES

PEANUT PALS

This is an authentic bag of Mr. Peanut Marbles.  Note that the type on the header tag is justified left and right.  There are 14 marbles in the real bag.
These are header tags from fake bags.  The type can be either black or red and is not justified. An oxidizing solution was used on the staples of the top one to make it look older.

The following was taken from an ebay auction of a seller who seems to know his stuff about fake marbles. Please note the fake Mr. Peanut marbles listed.  If you are a marble collector, here are a couple of links to his home page and to his fakes page.  It's very interesting reading.

Marbles: NINE FAKE MARBLE POLY BAGS
ANOTHER QUALITY MARBLE CONSIGNMENT BY MARBLEALAN

This lot consists of nine polyvinyl and cellophane marble bags. These bags are recent fakes and contain new marbles with old-looking headers and packaging. In some cases the staples have been artificially rusted (oxidized with a mild acidic solution). The bags include "Tydol," "The Cisco Kid," "El Dorado," "Sinclair Gasoline," "Royal Crown Cola," "Gulf," "John Wayne," "Mr. Peanut," and "Pal Ade." Only the latter two even come close to being counterfeits of genuine bags--all of the others are pure fantasy. These are offered only as curiosities, hopefully to educate. If you buy these and try to pass them off as old, you are a true s-----g. Winning bidder pays $6.00 shipping, plus applicable insurance fees, due to the weight of this lot.
